Is Work/Life Balance Attainable?

Today I want to talk to you about balance. The infamous work/life balance. Is it attainable? As women we often play many roles – employee, wife, mother, friend, coach, counselor, and the list goes on. But keeping yourself constantly busy, without taking time to stop for quiet reflection, will derail your balance and success. Many is the time when we’re doing so many things, we get confused about what is really important.

In a world where multi-tasking is the norm, everything ends up being mediocre. I try to make a conscious effort to focus on one task at a time and one person at a time. Often, when life is busiest, those closest to you end up being treated second rate. Think about that. That’s just sad. You know what your priorities are, who the most important people in your life are. That’s where your real focus should be. I completely get that mama has to make a living, trust me, I do! But I suggest you make time each day to collect your thoughts and reconnect with what really matters to you.  That’s when you’ll find clarity.

Here is one of my favorite quotes of all time:

“You do not need to leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. Do not even listen, simply wait, be quiet, still and solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked, it has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.” – Franz Kafka

I freaking love that…”it will roll in ecstasy at your feet!” And when the world offers itself to you, figure out what stirs your soul and spend some time doing that. Also, take a vacation. Play on the weekends. Be truly off when you’re off, so that you’re fully present when you’re on. Doing just these things will increase the quality of your life times ten. And you’re definitely worth it! As I always say…take action NOW!
