Katniss Everdeen – Now that’s a (S)Hero!

Y-E-S – I am a huge Hunger Games fan and, yes, I am *peeing myself* until I get to see the movie! If you have not read the Hunger Games trilogy, stop reading this post right now and go to the library, Amazon, or the bookseller of your choice and get on it! You will thank me later.

Now, back to business. We all need more female hero’s in our lives…I personally admire Oprah, Indra Nooyi, Sheryl Sandberg, Adele, Ellen, Arianna Huffington, J.K. Rowling and even Lady Gaga, Tori Spelling, and Tyra Banks in an odd sorta way. But, back to Katniss. She’s a female warrior who’s smart, strong, has heart, and she stands with other women. Remember what she did for Rue? My hand is raised in solidarity right now just remembering it! (And, I know Rue was a little girl and not a woman, but still!)

My point? The more representation of strong women in the media, the greater visibility the strength of women becomes.  There are women police officers, female firefighters, women soldiers and yes, even female superheroes. Talk about kicking some serious booty! What’s stopping you from changing the world? Or at a minimum, your little piece of the world?

Let me remind you…as a woman, you R-O-C-K! Just because you are. Simple as that. Never underestimate yourself, and never hesitate to lend a hand up to another sister in need. We’re all in this experience called life together. That’s the power of the Moxie Squad!

Share your moxie:  For other Hunger Games geeks… Which characteristic of Katniss do you most admire? How might you develop or strengthen that same characteristic? Be fearless and give it a try! But don’t, ummm…physically hurt anyone in the process. (Katniss was fighting for her life, after all – you shall fight for your fierceness!)

Be Sociable, Share the Moxie!
